Husband, 24, arrested for allegedly stabbing wife to death in Ogun

Olamilekan Mojiyagbe, a 24-year-old resident of Oke Ola area of Ode Remo in Ogun State, was said to have stabbed his wife, Seun Mojiyagbe, to death with a pair of scissors.

UGAMATV reports that the husband has been arrested by the police, following a distress call received at Ode Remo divisional headquarters at about 3pm on Wednesday.

Ogun police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed that the suspect had locked up himself and his wife in their room, where “he started beating the wife.”

Oyeyemi stated that “it was the wailing of the wife that attracted the neighbours, who tried all efforts to persuade the suspect to open the door, but he refused.”

Acting on the distress call, Oyeyemi added that the DPO of Ode Remo division, CSP Olayemi Fagbohun, had mobilized his men to the scene where the door to the couple’s apartment was forced open.

“The victim was met lying down unconscious in the pool of her own blood. She was quickly rushed to the state hospital in Isara Remo where she was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty,” our correspondent learnt.

The police spokesman said the corpse of the victim had been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.

He explained that the State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had ordered the transfer of the suspect to the homicide section of the state CIID for further investigation, with a view to charging him to court as soon as possible.
