Joy, Relief Sweep Eha-Amufu as Mbah’s Security Team Lands with Helicopters to Reassure Residents

…Stakeholders hail governor’s commitment to lasting peace, development

The people of Eha-Amufu in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State were filled with joy and renewed hope as Governor Peter Mbah’s security team, accompanied by surveillance helicopters, visited the area to reinforce government’s unwavering stance against insecurity.

Led by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Hon. Vincent Onyeabor, the delegation arrived at the Ogbete Joint Task Force (JTF) Security Camp with three helicopters. The team was flanked by top personnel from the Nigerian Air Force and the International Helicopter Flying School (IHFS), Emene, led by Air Commodore D.E. Laha and Wing Commander O. Adeniyi.

The visit, which also included a stop in Aguamede community, was met with massive public reception. Community members, leaders, and stakeholders, including the Anglican Bishop of Eha-Amufu Diocese, Rt. Rev. Daniel Olinya, and the traditional ruler of Aguamede, Igwe John Odo Anyika, welcomed the initiative as a turning point in their collective security narrative.

Addressing residents, Onyeabor debunked misconceptions around the presence of helicopters in the region, clarifying that they were neither hostile nor criminal but were part of government’s proactive surveillance and training collaboration with the Air Force.

“These helicopters are not a threat but part of a broader security initiative. Aside from routine training, their presence enhances surveillance over our forests and settlements,” he said. “We want to assure you—Enugu State has zero tolerance for criminals. No inch of this land will be left for insecurity.”

Commending Governor Mbah’s strategic response to past security challenges, Bishop Olinya praised the administration’s commitment to both safety and community revival. The Bishop announced he would resume regular church services at Ogbete on Sunday, July 13th, marking the first since the area was deserted due to insecurity in 2021/2022.

Similarly, Isi-Uzo Council Chairman, Barr. Obiora Obeagu, expressed gratitude to the governor for restoring safety and facilitating the return of displaced residents. He highlighted completed infrastructure projects like the 21.7km Agape-Agu-Mgbuji-Ogbete asphalt road, with an additional 8km extension underway to Aguamede.

He also revealed the governor’s plans to enhance communication access and agricultural productivity through telecoms connectivity and the establishment of 200-hectare farm estates in each of the 11 political wards of Isi-Uzo.

“Governor Mbah has not only restored security but is laying the groundwork for sustainable growth in farming and rural livelihoods. This is a new dawn for our people,” Barr. Obeagu said.

As Eha-Amufu regains its strength and residents return to their farms and homes, the message from the skies—and the ground—is clear: peace has returned, and progress is here to stay.
