Hoodlums kill one, injure cop in Imo

One person was on Saturday killed in Amakpurudere-Izombe in the Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, while a policeman was injured following an attack by some hoodlums.

It was learnt that hoodlums dispossessed the policeman of his rifle and took it away.

The development caused tension in the community as residents ran helter-skelter to avoid being hit by stray bullets.

A sources in the community  told our correspondent that while the victim was slain on a bush path in community, the cop, said to be attached to one of the oil companies operating in the area, was attacked after he had an altercation with another person.

The source said, “A man was killed on a bush path while a policeman serving in an oil company was attacked after he had a disagreement with another person. His service rifle was snatched.”

When contacted, the police spokesperson in the state, Mike Abattam, said that investigation had commenced on the incident.
