The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has described the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as a performing public official, saying he drew inspiration from his leadership style while serving as governor of Akwa Ibom State.
Akpabio made the remarks on Friday during the commissioning of access roads to the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates in the Karsana West District of the FCT, one of the projects inaugurated to mark the third anniversary of the administration of Bola Tinubu.
Representing President Tinubu at the event, Akpabio recalled that Wike visited Akwa Ibom during his tenure as governor and was impressed by the level of infrastructure development, particularly the state’s underground drainage system.
According to the Senate President, Wike had expressed his determination to deliver similar results if given the opportunity to lead Rivers State.
Akpabio said Wike later fulfilled that ambition during his tenure as governor and has continued to demonstrate the same work ethic as Minister of the FCT.
He jokingly recalled advising Wike not to outshine his own achievements, saying there should always be room for successors to contribute.
Akpabio added that hard work has become part of Wike’s character, noting that he consistently delivers results wherever he serves, and expressed confidence that his efforts would continue to attract recognition and blessings.
