gunmen attack five policemen, kill one, injure others in Abia StAte

A gang of about 12 hoodlums on Monday during a downpour attacked five policemen, who were taking cover in a security shelter at a bus stop around Okagwe Junction, Ohafia, Abia State.

According to the state Commissioner for Information, John Okiyi Kalu, one police inspector was killed, while the other four were critically injured and are now receiving treatment at a medical facility in the state

Okiyi said, “Abia State Government, in conjunction with security agencies in the state, is currently investigating a security breach at the Ohafia Local Government Area which led to the death of one police officer and left four others injured.

“The government wishes to advice all medical facilities in the state to report any patient come with gunshot injuries to the nearest police station.”.

All efforts to get any confirmation from the Police Public Relations Officer, Geoffrey Ogbonna proved abortive.
