Governor Otti appoints new head coach for Enyimba

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has approved the appointment of Deutsch Detchoua Gustave Emmanuel as the new Head Coach of Enyimba International Football Club, Aba.

The appointment was announced on Monday by the Abia State Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, who said the decision followed the club’s recent decline from its traditional standards of excellence. He noted that the Otti administration is determined to reposition Enyimba on the path of professionalism, sustainability and strong corporate governance.

According to the statement, the appointment of Coach Deutsch Detchoua Gustave Emmanuel is part of strategic efforts to reinvigorate the club’s technical direction, strengthen its competitive edge and lay a solid foundation for long-term success.

Coach Deutsch Detchoua Gustave Emmanuel is described as a highly experienced football tactician, holding CAF A, B and C coaching licences. He has served as Technical Adviser and Head Coach with reputable clubs in Nigeria and Cameroon, where he recorded impressive results. His achievements include winning the Nigeria National League Best Coach Award in 2025.

Governor Otti expressed confidence that the new coach’s wealth of experience, technical competence and professional discipline would play a significant role in the rebuilding process of Enyimba.

Enyimba recently appointed former Crown FC coach, Deji Ayeni, but the team went on to suffer a 2-0 defeat away to Niger Tornadoes of Minna, a result that further highlighted the club’s struggles this season.
