Five Iranian Footballers Secure Australian Asylum After Trump’s Diplomatic Push

US President Donald Trump has sent five Iranian women football players to Australia.

Australia had issued visas to the football stars following Trump’s request to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

The Iranian women’s football team has been granted asylum in Australia, as confirmed by Home Affairs Minister, Tony Burke.

Burke stated that the five women are welcome to remain in the country, and the government has agreed to provide them with humanitarian visas.

“I extend the same opportunity to the other members of the team,” he informed reporters in Brisbane.

Previously, Donald Trump remarked that Australia was committing “a terrible humanitarian mistake” by not allowing the players into the country, but later commended Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for being “on it” and “doing a very good job” after their phone conversation regarding the issue.

“Five have already been taken care of, and the rest are on their way,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
