FirstBank to sponsor Obasanjo’s golf tournament

First Bank of Nigeria Limited has said it will sponsor the fifth edition of the Chief Olusegun Obasanjo Golf Tournament organised by the Abeokuta golf club.

In a statement on Thursday, the bank said that the event would be held on Saturday, 14 August, and would have Chief Obasanjo perform the ceremonial tee-off.

Speaking on the event, FirstBank’s Group Executive, Retail Banking (Lagos & West), Mr Tunde Owolabi, said, “We are delighted to join The Abeokuta Golf Club to honour Chief Olusegun Obasanjo for the indelible roles he has played to the socioeconomic and political development of the country. The bank’s influence in the development of sport in Nigeria is under its First@Sport initiative.”

He added that in over a century, FirstBank had sponsored various sporting events known as its legacy sport.
