The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Remi Tinubu, has advised poor Nigerians that starting small businesses, such as akara, roasted corn and kuli-kuli, does not require much capital.

While explaining the administration’s support for small businesses through grants, the First Lady said: “To start akara business doesn’t take a lot of money. To start roasting corn or kuli-kuli doesn’t take much. We didn’t give them a loan, we gave them a grant. We have encouraged Nigerians as best as we could. I also gave to several others.”

She added that over ₦3 billion has been spent empowering poor Nigerians.

Her post angered Nigerians and they slammed the First Lady on X, with many pointing out that many small businesses have failed due to the economic reality in the country.
