The Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC) has welcomed its first female Director General in over 70 years, as Hon. Rinsola Abiola officially assumed office on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. Her appointment by President Bola Tinubu came just two days earlier.
Abiola arrived at the Centre’s headquarters to submit her appointment letter and immediately took charge, filling the vacancy left by former DG Adesoji Eniade. Eniade’s departure two months ago had seen two acting DGs serve in quick succession.
Her first public appearance in her new role took place at the International Youth Day celebration organised by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, where she represented the CLTC.
On Thursday, a jubilant mood filled the CLTC headquarters as staff turned out in large numbers to welcome her.
Expressing gratitude to President Tinubu, Abiola described her appointment as proof of his commitment to empowering youths and women. She promised to deliver on her mandate and lauded staff for their warm reception.
A strategic communication and government relations expert, Abiola previously served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Citizenship and Leadership. Since 2013, she has worked to promote civic education, political literacy, and the inclusion of marginalised groups in governance.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, a Diploma in Public Relations, and has attended international study programmes in the United States, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. A certified public relations professional, Abiola brings over a decade of experience across public, private, and non-profit sectors.
