FG Urges Calm as Ghanaians Protest, Demand Deportation of Nigerians

The Federal Government has called for calm following a viral video showing Ghanaians protesting and demanding the deportation of Nigerians over alleged criminal activities.

Reacting to the incident, the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, condemned the stereotyping of all Nigerians as criminals, describing it as both unfair and harmful.

She acknowledged that while some individuals may engage in unlawful acts, the majority of Nigerians living in Ghana are responsible, law-abiding citizens who contribute meaningfully to society.

“Nigerians are not criminals. They are good ambassadors wherever they are. The few who break the law should be identified and sanctioned individually,” Dabiri-Erewa stated.

She emphasized the deep historical and regional ties between Nigeria and Ghana, urging both nations to uphold peace and brotherhood in the spirit of ECOWAS cooperation.
