FG plans to vaccinate all eligible Nigerians in two years

The Federal Government through the National Primary Health Care Development Agency plans to vaccinate all eligible Nigerians against the novel COVID-19 in the next two years.

The NPCHDA disclosed this in a statement posted on its official Facebook page on Tuesday.

Recall that the country commenced the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination across the 36 states of the country and the FCT on March 5 this year, while the second phase of the vaccination exercise began on the 16th of August.

The NPHCDA statement partly reads, “As part of efforts to interrupt the spread of COVID-19 in Nigeria, the Federal Government through the National Primary Health Care Development Agency plans to vaccinate all eligible 111,776,503 in the country (18 years and above) with safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines over the next two (2) years.”

According to data from NPHCDA, 4,082,720 have received their first dose while 1,697,800 have received the second dose of the vaccine.

The agency also stated that as part of the strategy for the second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination exercise, it is working with the states to make special arrangements for staff of government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), and Corporate organisations (public and private) including their dependents and retirees to get vaccinated at their convenience.
