Federal High Court Announces 2025 Vacation Schedule, Urgent Cases to Be Handled in Key Divisions

The Federal High Court has announced that its 2025 annual vacation will begin on July 28 and run through September 16, with court sittings scheduled to resume on September 17.

 

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by the court’s Director of Information, Mrs. Catherine Oby Christopher, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

 

According to the statement, during the vacation period, only the core divisions in Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt will remain open to handle matters of extreme urgency.

 

“Consequently, the litigating public will be at liberty to approach only the above-listed courts located nearest to them,” Christopher said.

 

The following judges have been designated to preside over vacation matters:

 

Abuja: Justice Emeka Nwite and Justice M. S. Liman

 

Lagos: Justice Deinde I. Dipeolu and Justice Musa Kakaki

 

Port Harcourt: Justice P. M. Ayua and Justice A. T. Mohammed

 

 

Mrs. Christopher further explained that the vacation is in accordance with Order 46, Rule 4(d) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019.

 

The statement also conveyed the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho’s, good wishes to his fellow judges for a restful and pleasant vacation in advance.
