FCT Police Arrest Man for Attempting to Bribe Investigators with N1.5 Million Over Kidnap Case

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old man, Yahaya Saleh, for attempting to bribe police investigators with the sum of One Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N1,500,000) in a desperate bid to secure the release of a suspected kidnapper currently under investigation.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, who confirmed the development, said the arrest followed a discreet operation carried out by officers of the Command’s Scorpion Squad. The squad is actively investigating a notorious kidnapping syndicate operating within the FCT and its surrounding areas.

According to Adeh, Saleh approached the investigators and offered the bribe in a bid to compromise the ongoing investigation and facilitate the unlawful release of one of the arrested suspects. However, the officers, acting with professionalism and integrity, immediately rejected the bribe and arrested Saleh on the spot.

“Demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and unwavering commitment to justice, the officers promptly declined the offer and initiated necessary legal procedures, leading to Saleh’s immediate arrest,” Adeh said.

She added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate still at large.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, has commended the officers involved for their exemplary conduct. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to upholding the rule of law, fighting corruption, and ensuring that justice is served without fear or favour.
