The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has taken a swipe at former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, questioning his claims of not owning any houses despite occupying high-ranking political offices for years.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday night, Wike dismissed Amaechi’s assertion that he has no properties because he is not corrupt. He argued that such a claim defies logic, adding that anyone who has served as a Speaker, Governor, and Minister for a combined 24 years and still claims to own no house must be dealing with a “spiritual problem.”
Wike went further to allege that Amaechi actually owns a luxurious house in Guzape, Abuja, an area known for high-end properties. According to him, the house is so well-built that “you would need a bunker to destroy it,” emphasizing that no poor man could afford such a structure.
“He’s deceiving Nigerians,” Wike said. “People need to understand the kind of characters they are listening to. He says he has nothing, where’s his house? It’s in old GRA. Who built it? They say NPA and NIMASA haven’t paid contractors. Yes, because they haven’t paid his wife, who is one of the contractors.”
Wike’s remarks are the latest in a long-running rivalry between the two politicians, both of whom hail from Rivers State and were once political allies.
