A Floating Production Storage and Offloading unit (FPSO) has exploded in Escravos, Delta State.

The explosion of the FPSO, known as Trinity Spirit, occurred on Wednesday afternoon, causing apprehension in the Escravos area in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of the state.

An eyewitness told Vanguard that an intense fire was sighted offshore, thus causing fear in the area.

In January 2018, there was also an explosion at the Escravos-Lagos Pipeline.

The explosion rocked the pipeline crisscrossing the Ugbokodo community near the Warri refinery in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.
