Enugu State governor’s efforts on entertainment, leisure commendable – Dubem Oguegbu

Hon. (Dr) Dubem Oguegbu, the Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Enugu State and Managing Partner of Enugu-based nightclub, Gustavo By Cubana has lauded the efforts of the governor in the areas of entertainment and leisure, adding that the entertainment industry in Enugu is creating perceptive entrepreneurs, cultural ambassadors and global brands.

He said in chat with Potpourri that “The entertainment sector is now reputed to be the second highest employer in Nigeria after agriculture, employing more than one million people, particularly the youth. A growing number of young people are finding their niche in the industry, as they straddle a broad range of economic activities, contributing to the economy.

While Nigeria’s shortcomings in youth management are by no means resolved, the entertainment industry has seen young Nigerian artistes emerging from disadvantaged backgrounds and working themselves into higher income brackets.”

Continuing, he added, “The opportunities created by the entertainment sector are good news especially for the Gov. Ugwuanyi led Enugu State Government, as it somewhat reduces the difficulty of catering for the large youth population, with more than 1 million people aged below 45.

Through the Enugu State Government’s policies, the entertainment industry is creating perceptive entrepreneurs, cultural ambassadors, and global brands, whose exploits have internationalised Enugu’s entertainment sector.

The sector has unarguably flourished as a result of the Enugu State Government’s policies, aiding investors, both local and international, devising strategies.  With even more attention from the Enugu State Government, in terms of regulation and investments, the entertainment industry in Enugu has facilitated the youth employment effort, not only in distribution but also in domestic and regional tourism.”

Dubem Oguegbu aka Dubby Gustavo and his partner, Papi Chulo alias Papi Gustavo were recently unveiled by Ledrop Nigeria Limited as brand influencers and ambassadors for their flagship brands Remy Martin and Glenfiddich.
