The Atmosphere was filled with Echoes of Excitement as The Good People of Mmaku warmly received their illustrious Son, Hon. Johnson Okwudili Chukwuobasi Member, the Enugu State House of Assembly member representing Awgu South Constituency.

The Historic event which took place on the 4th of January 2022 at Ajaba Central Square, Mmaku was graced with the presence of dignitaries across The State, Including HRH Igwe Cyprain Nevo – Obasi. (Igwe Omelueyi 1) The Traditional Ruler, Agunese Autonomous Community, Hon. Chinedu Nwamba, the Nsukka East House Committee Chairman, Enugu State House of Assembly, House Committee Chairman; Enugu State bribery and Corruption on Public Account,Deacon Eddy Ilechukwu, coordinating PG Federated Mmaku town unions .

The tremendous event was with different dance from dance groups and masquerade display as they welcomed their son.

Hon. Johnson Okwudili Chukwuobasi, who was elected as a Member of Enugu State House of Assembly on March 28, 2019 enumerated his achievement so far which include Partnership with CSDP to Build Bridge for Mmaku Community; Helping The Youths of Mmaku to Secure Admission in Higher Institution especially the less privileged every year, Empowering Over 100 Youths and Women in Awgu South, Leading Mmaku leaders on Courtesy Visit to The State Governor, His Excellency Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi which led to The Renovation of Mmaku Cottage Hospital, and many more.

While speaking, the Honorable in his Opening remarks expressed his gratitude to his people saying, “today is a historic event in my life and also in Mmaku. I never thought that there will be a day that Mmaku People will gather to Celebrate me, so i thank the people of Mmaku community for coming out massively to celebrate me”.

In an interview with UGAMATV, the Honorable described the event as a Show of Love by his people saying “I will continue to do my best to support the Less privileged and Empower the People, To Support and Make Laws that will change the lives of our people, and Equally those things that will make our people continue to feel that they have a representative in government and continue to be friendly with the People”, he said.

Advicing youths with an ambition to venture into politics, he advised that “it is better for the youths to engage themselves in those things that will advance them economically than engaging in Social Vices. To take over as a Youth, You must understand first of All what Power is All About and not just to say, You want to Take over.

“You must build Capacity First, Win the heart of People by being Yourself – Likeable And Loved by the People. Then You Proceed to The Process of Electioneering before You can Take Over”, Chukwuobasi said.

Dr. Godwin Ikechukwu, an enugu state former Commissioner who was present at the event his joy over the event and the renovation of Mmaku cottage hospital, adding that “it is a thing of Joy, we are pleased with Hon. Johnson because he knew what we sent him to do, he is representing very well and we decided that we abandon all our activities to come and give Honor to Whom Honor is due. The commissioning is what we had expected today and we equally thank the Governor for facilitating it and we wish that other social amenities should join as Well”.
