ENUGU REP DEPUTY MINORITY LEADER OKECHUKWU CONDENMS ACTS OF BANDITS, SAYS DECLARING THEM AS TERRORISTS WAS LONG OVER DUE

The Deputy Minority Leader of the house of representatives, Hon. Toby Okechukwu have expressed his gladness over the branding of bandits as terrorists by the federal government.

This is coming days after the motion was moved and the bill was passed by the house of Assembly to brand bandits who terrorize the country as terrorists stating their acts are treasonable and any act by any member of the society that causes destruction and havoc to the greater society makes them a terrorist.

Reacting to these development, Okechukwu told Ugamatv that the declaration of bandits as terrorists was a step that should have been taken long agpo without the long debate, stating that “the important thing is not even the name the issue is the will and capacity to fight them.

Emphasizing on the mayhem they have caused in the country, the lawmaker said “Those people constitute a present danger to the federal republic and its not something we can tolerate. Am a student at the university of Abuja, some of our professors were kidnapped the other time and it’s not a joke, so banditry is not supposed to be condoned in any society.

“So taking time to brand them is not something we should have waited this long to do, it shouldn’t be an argument. Because people who carry Ak47 kidnap people, students are kidnapped and killed by them all the time, so what else do you call them, they are terrorists not bandits”, he said concluding.
