The Enugu State Polling Booth Vanguard (ESPVB), a fast-rising political pressure group of repute, has reiterated its commitment to championing credible leadership and deepening democratic participation at the grassroots level in Enugu State.
Founded in 2022, the group has distinguished itself as a formidable political force by creating a platform through which credible candidates connect directly with voters across the state’s 260 wards. Over the years, it has played a vital role in sensitizing the electorate, providing a veritable channel for unknown but credible politicians to reach the people and sell their manifestoes.
At a recent strategic consultative meeting chaired by its National Coordinator, Comrade A.C. Ude, and attended by ward and local government coordinators, technical advisers, and patrons, the group resolved to intensify efforts in reshaping the political landscape of Enugu.
In its communiqué, the ESPVB leadership made clear that it will not hastily endorse any governorship or senatorial candidate ahead of the 2027 elections. Rather, support will only go to individuals whose manifestoes are people-driven and aligned with grassroots development.
The resolutions emphasized four key points:
- Comprehensive consultations will precede any official endorsement of candidates.
- Only aspirants with clear people-centric manifestoes will be supported.
- Members are to revalidate their membership and strengthen voter sensitization at the grassroots.
- Any premature endorsement issued in the name of ESPVB is null and void.
Speaking after the meeting, Comrade Ude reaffirmed the group’s mission to change the old narrative of politics in Enugu State. According to him, the Vanguard is committed to discouraging the era of “stomach infrastructure politics” while mobilizing citizens to embrace inclusive governance.
He added that the group’s vast grassroots network places it in a unique position to influence political outcomes positively, ensuring that democracy in Enugu reflects the will of the people.
