Hon. Johnson ChukwuObasi, the member representing Awgu South Constituency has enumerated several of Enugu State Governor, Ugwuanyi’s significant achievements since he took over in 2015.
As Ugwuanyi’s tenure draws to an end, Chukwuobasi deemed it fit to remind the state of what was done for them under the Ugwuanyi administration. This is coming after some notable politicians in the state tried to released press statements in a bid to sabotage some of his good works.
Emphasizing on the relative peace Enugu has enjoyed since 2015 till date, he said “it is not by chance, it is out of genuine effort of the government of the day. That is progress.
“We survived Covid-19. Before 2015, Covid was not there, but when it came, the government of Enugu state responded with military precision, just like any other responsible govt.and we were able to manage our cases effectively. That is progress.
“Oil price at some point fell bellow budget benchmark, which lead to reduced federal allocation, but Government of Enugu State persevered, increased her revenue generation, continued to per her workforce, maintained decaying infrastructure and builtbnew ones. That is progress.
“Give it to this government that it has managed all the functional assets and public facilities bequeathed to it by previous administration and even expanded them. Example is the Enugu high court complex. If you notice portholes on any of our urban roads, before you comeback next time it has been fixed. That is responsiveness in govt. It was not there before but this government instituted it.
“The government of Enugu state under Ugwuanyi has achieved some milestone in Rural development which is one of her major promises to the people of Enugu State. That alone is progress.
“This government of Enugu state under the leadership of Rt. Hon Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has done marvelously well in renovation and construction of new health facilities across Enugu state. That is progress.
“This government has also done well in terms of renovation and construction of new school blocks of which many of the schools would have been closed. Although no amount of investment in education that will ever be enough.
“Very soon Enugu will have a brand new flyover around T-junction Abakpa and that alone, is a major milstone towards building on what this government met on ground. It is also progress.
“As much as we are entitled to our individual opinions, bad remains bad and good remains good, it does not matter who did it. It is wrong to kill a man that has done nothing”, he concluded.
