ENUGU GOVT PROPOSES NEW ANNUAL TAX FOR LAWYERS, DEMANDS BVN AND NIN

The Enugu State Government has unveiled a proposed taxation framework aimed at lawyers practicing within the state.

 

According to the proposal, practitioners will be required to pay annual fees based on their years of post-call experience as follows:

 

1–10 years: ₦100,000

 

11–20 years: ₦150,000

 

21 years and above: ₦250,000

 

Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs): ₦800,000

 

 

In addition, lawyers will be mandated to provide their Bank Verification Number (BVN) and National Identification Number (NIN) to enable the government access to their bank account details for what it describes as “prop

er taxation.”
