Enugu Government Extends Digital Skills Grant Deadline, Urges Aspiring Tech Talents to Apply

In response to widespread requests from prospective applicants, the Enugu State Government has officially announced an extension of the enrollment deadline for its highly sought-after Digital Skills Grant in partnership with AltSchool Africa. The new deadline is now set for June 30, 2025, giving more aspiring tech professionals the opportunity to secure their place in the transformative programme.

This initiative, led by the Enugu SME Center and the Office of Digital Economy, in collaboration with AltSchool Africa, Bybit, and other strategic partners, offers world-class digital training in ten globally in-demand tech disciplines.

The programme, designed to bridge the skills gap in Africa’s digital economy, provides learners with access to UK-accredited diplomas, live classes with top instructors, real-world project development, mentorship, internship opportunities, and career support — all delivered entirely online.

What Makes This Programme Stand Out?

“This isn’t just another online course,” the organisers noted. “AltSchool Africa is trusted by thousands across the continent and delivers globally respected credentials that open doors to international opportunities.”

Participants can choose from the following diploma tracks:
1. Frontend Engineering
2. Backend Engineering
3. Cloud Engineering
4. Cybersecurity
5. Data Analytics

Subsidized Cost and Flexible Payment Options

The full cost of the 12-month training programme is ₦435,000. However, through the Enugu Digital Skills Grant (EDSG), participants only pay ₦217,500 — a 50% discount. Additionally, applicants can opt for a flexible payment plan under the Enugu SME Human Capital Development Loan, paying ₦108,750 upfront, and spreading the balance of ₦108,750 over 12 months at zero interest.

Payment Details:
• Account Name: Enugu SME Training/Upload Account
• Account Number: 5030120468
• Bank: Fidelity Bank Plc
• Payment Narration Format: First Name, Last Name / Chosen Track
(e.g., David Uche / Frontend Engineering)

The government emphasized that priority will be given to applicants who make full payment and those who utilize the loan option. Importantly, the programme is no longer limited to Enugu residents, allowing qualified applicants from across Nigeria and beyond to apply.

Limited Slots Available

According to officials, only 54 scholarship slots remain, and demand continues to rise. Interested applicants are encouraged to act swiftly.

“This initiative is part of Governor Peter Mbah’s broader vision to position Enugu State as a hub for digital innovation and human capital development. We are not just building skills; we are building futures,” said a spokesperson for the SME Center.
