Elon Musk Expresses Regret Over Harsh Social Media Posts About Donald Trump

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has publicly expressed regret over several of his recent social media posts targeting U.S. President Donald Trump.

In a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, Musk wrote: “I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far.”

The apology follows a public fallout that ended a once-productive relationship between the two, which had seen Musk lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under Trump’s second administration. Their alliance began to unravel over Musk’s vocal opposition to the Trump-endorsed “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” a sweeping tax and spending proposal.

Tensions escalated last week when Musk claimed that Trump would have lost the 2024 presidential election without his support. He also made controversial remarks suggesting Trump’s name appeared in documents related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein—an allegation the White House swiftly denied.

Over the weekend, Musk appeared to have deleted several of the inflammatory posts, possibly signaling a move to de-escalate the situation.

Musk’s public statement of regret comes amid growing scrutiny over his influence on politics and the role of tech moguls in shaping national discourse.
