It was a day of rejoicing for the people of Umusike village, Enuguoke Ihe in Awgu local government area, Enugu state on the 12th of February as Hon Toby Okechukwu, the deputy minority leader and member representing Awgu, Aninri and Oji-River federal constituency fulfilled his promise to them by donating a 500KVA transformer to the community.
The Honorable who was approached on the 6th of February by Chief Emeka Udeh and Chief Ugochukwu Udeh lamenting to the honorable to come to their aid as their community has been without light for a while.
Okechukwu who has in the past years, through his electrification project given transformers to Egbeagu Ugwuoba, Aha-ani Achi, Galaxy junction, Agboneri Mmaku, Ohaja Awgu, Amagu Ihe, Ifite Mmaku, Isu Awaa, Mmaku, Obeagu Odumodu, Adani Mgbidi, Nenwenta, Amorji Nenwe Okpuno Ugwuoba, Agolo Ugwuoba, Inyi Mgbowo, also fulfilled his promise in less than a week.
Speaking to UGAMATV about his motivation for his electrification project in his constituency, he said “I always want to help the people in any way I can, because light is very important in the life of man. I pray that the transformer serves them well”.
Receiving the transformer on behalf of their people, Chief Emeka Udeh and Chief Ugochukwu Udeh thanked Toby Okechukwu for his continuous kind gesture to his community saying “This is not the first time he is doing something like this for the people of Ihe, last two years he gave the people of Amagu Ihe a transformer .
“He have done medical outreach in mother of mercy Ihe twice and have reconstructed the road at Ihe before. So we are really happy for this and we are truly grateful”, they concluded
