Ekiti Police Arraign Suspects Over Rice Theft in Ilawe-Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned three individuals—Ajanaku Lekan, Akingbade Sodiq, and Ajalume Seun—before the Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court over alleged theft.

 

According to the prosecution, led by Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, the accused and other accomplices still at large allegedly committed the offence on May 27 around 2:00 p.m. in Ilawe-Ekiti. They were charged with stealing rice valued at N50,000, the property of one Oladipo Tope.

 

Inspector Oriyomi stated that the offences violate Sections 421 and 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.

 

Defense counsel, Adunni Olanipekun, applied for bail on behalf of the defendants. Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun granted them bail in the sum of N20,000 each, with one surety in the same amount.
