Ekiti attorney general, other cabinet members test positive for COVID-19

EKITI State Health Commissioner, Dr Mojisola Yaya-Kolade, said on Monday that some cabinet members in the state tested positive for COVID-19.

Yaya-Kolade, who did not disclose the number of the members or their identities, said, “Those who tested positive are at liberty to announce it on their own.”

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Olawale Fapohunda, had on Sunday night tweeted that he tested positive for the virus.

This came after the State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, on Wednesday last week tested positive and went into isolation following which his wife, Bisi; members of the State Executive Council and aides had to undergo COVID-19 tests.

The Health commissioner, who spoke in Ado Ekiti during the state COVID-19 Task Force media briefing, said, “As you are aware, the Commissioner for Justice announced his status on twitter.

“I can tell you that there are other members of the cabinet that are also positive, but I must say that they are at liberty to disclose or keep to themselves for the obvious reasons,” she said.

Yaya-Kolade said that it was against the ethics of the medical profession to disclose the identity of COVID-19 patients.
