The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Saturday reported 89 new COVID-19 cases from eight states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The agency also reported one additional COVID-19 related death.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official website.

According to data from the agency, Lagos reported the highest figures for new infections with 26 cases.

Ondo State followed with 19 cases, Imo – 16, Edo – 7, Kaduna – 7, Rivers – 7, FCT – 3, Ogun – 3, Kano – 1.

The reported 89 new infections have brought the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 253,001.

However, 228,703 people have recovered and have been discharged.

With one additional COVID-19 related death recorded for the day, the death toll from the virus now stands at 3,135.

The agency added that a multi-sectoral National Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
