Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Sunday reportedly stormed the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, Ogun State, arresting several youths suspected to be internet fraudsters.
According to sources, the raid followed a Wet & Rave Splash Extravaganza party in the area, which attracted a large number of young people. A viral video from the scene captured moments when some attendees fled in panic as EFCC operatives moved in during the night.
Reports indicate that the operatives, said to be from the Lagos Directorate of the EFCC, seized more than 20 luxury cars alongside other valuable items.
Confirming the incident, the Managing Director of OOPL Ventures, Vitalis Ortese, said: “Yes, they did. There was an incident this morning. We will find out and we will let you know.” He, however, declined to give further details.
As of the time of filing this report, the EFCC has not issued an official statement regarding the raid or the number of arrests made.
The high-profile operation has sparked public interest, with many awaiting an official EFCC statement to clarify the circumstances of the raid and the fate of those arrested.
