The Department of State Services (DSS) has taken into custody a man identified as Udeme Sunday Stephen over his alleged involvement in the recent attack on the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and senior members of the African Democratic Congress in Benin, Edo State.
According to Channels Television, the arrest followed an extensive investigation by security operatives into the incident.
The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, had earlier raised concerns after Obi and other political figures were reportedly attacked at the Benin residence of ADC chieftain, John Odigie-Oyegun.
Tanko stated that the incident occurred shortly after the group returned from a visit to the ADC secretariat, prompting heightened security attention and subsequent action by the DSS.
