DSS Arraigns Nine Suspects Over Deadly Attacks in Benue, Plateau States

The Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday arraigned nine prime suspects allegedly linked to the recent wave of killings in Benue and Plateau States.

UGAMA TV recalls that both states have in recent months come under sustained attacks, reportedly carried out by suspected herdsmen, leading to the deaths of hundreds of residents and the destruction of communities.

According to Channels Television, the DSS also charged a suspected gunrunner who was arrested with seven M16 rifles in connection with the violence.

The nine suspects are accused of complicity in the deadly assaults on Yelwata community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, as well as coordinated attacks in parts of Plateau State.

The arraignment comes amid mounting calls for decisive government action to stem the tide of killings in both states, which have continued to grapple with insecurity despite several military and security interventions.
