Drop search for grazing routes, NAS tells Buhari

The National Association of Seadogs, also known as the Pyrates Confraternity, has asked the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to jettison the idea of reactivating colonial grazing routes across the country and lend his support to ban on open grazing by governors.

In an open letter to celebrate Nigeria at 61 titled: “Nigeria must not die under your watch,” signed by the group’s Capon, Mr Abiola Owoaje, it urged the Buhari-led regime to fashion out ways other Nigerians could live peacefully with herders by ensuring that those herders who moved around with guns were prosecuted.

The group said, “You must see yourself as a statesman and President of Nigeria by immediately jettisoning the idea of reactivating colonial grazing routes. You must lend your support to the ban on open grazing and fashion ways where the Federal Government and the various state governments, especially in southern Nigeria, would live in harmony with herders. To this end, you must reinforce your directive to security operatives to arrest marauding herdsmen caught with guns and ensure their prosecution.”
