Death Sentence for Traitors: Kebbi Governor’s Bold New Measure Against Bandits

Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has vowed to approve death sentences for anyone convicted of acting as informants for armed bandits, stating that such individuals have no place in a civilized society.

The governor made the declaration on Saturday during a condolence visit to Zogirma community in Bunza Local Government Area, where he sympathized with families of three policemen killed by suspected Lakurawa bandits.

UGAMATV gathered that the attack occurred on Friday evening along the Zogirma–Tilli Road, where the assailants attempted to abduct travellers but were repelled by police operatives.

During the gun duel, three officers lost their lives, while several bandits were reportedly neutralized.
“We will not fold our arms while enemies within betray us,” Idris stated.

“Any person convicted of giving information to bandits will have their death warrant signed by me within 24 hours. Life imprisonment is too lenient.

“Such people are enemies of the people and must face capital punishment,” he said.
The governor condemned the killing of the officers, whom he described as heroes who died protecting innocent citizens.

He announced the deployment of additional security personnel to the area and other vulnerable communities, assuring that the government would do everything possible to safeguard lives and property.
Chairman of Bunza Local Government Area, Hon. Zayyanu Shehu, commended the governor’s swift intervention and assured that local authorities would continue to support efforts to secure the region.

Also speaking, the District Head of Zogirma, Alhaji Tijjani Muhammad, appealed for a sustained security presence in the area, describing the recent attack as both painful and terrifying for the residents.
