Controversial Nigerian content creator, DJ Chicken, has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos after being arraigned over an alleged threat to kill Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.
The content creator was arraigned before a Magistrate Court sitting in Ogba on Friday on a three-count charge bordering on alleged cybercrime offences, breach of the peace, and making threats to kill.
The charges stem from a viral video in which DJ Chicken allegedly made threatening remarks against Seyi Tinubu while also claiming that President Bola Tinubu would not be re-elected in 2027.
Following the backlash, DJ Chicken retracted the statement, insisting it was a joke intended to attract public attention. Despite the apology, he was arrested and charged before the court.
He pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The court granted him bail in the sum of ₦1 million with two sureties in like sum. One surety must be a civil servant, while the other must be a community leader with landed property in Lagos State. The sureties are also required to present three years’ tax clearance, utility bills, their National Identification Number (NIN), and Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) registration. In addition, one of the sureties must be a blood relative.
The case was adjourned until August 3, 2026, while the court ordered that DJ Chicken remain in Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions.
