Court remands 18-year-old man for allegedly raping two year old in Ekiti

An eighteen year old man, Solomon Sunday, has been remanded by a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State capital over alleged rape of a 2-year-old child.

 

 

 

The prosecutor, Inspector Olasunkanmi Bankole, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence within the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District on August 24, 2025.

 

 

 

 

Bankole said the offence was punishable under Section 31 of the Child Rights Law of Ekiti State, 2021. The Prosecutor maintained that there was probable cause to order the remand of the defendant.

 

 

 

The prosecutor added that the defendant was reasonably suspected to have committed the offence of rape on the victim.

 

 

 

He prayed the court to remand the defendant and stated that the duplicate file had been sent to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

 

 

 

 

The Chief Magistrate, Adefunke Anoma, ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional center and adjourned the matter till October 14 for mention.
