Veteran Nigerian comedian, Ali Baba, has been evicted from his Victoria Island property in Lagos State following a court order.
The eviction, which also affected his company XQZMOI TV, was carried out after a writ of possession signed by the Federal High Court on August 15, 2025.
Ali Baba had purchased the property for N220 million in 2021 from the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), which claimed to have acquired it to recover debts allegedly owed by Harold Expansion Industries Nigeria Limited.
However, in a ruling on July 31, 2025, Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa dismissed AMCON’s case, stating that the corporation failed to provide sufficient evidence of the alleged debt. The court ordered that the property be returned to its original owner and imposed N500 million in damages on AMCON.
Reports indicate that Ali Baba’s liability in the matter stemmed from the timing of his purchase, as he was a tenant of the original owner before their eviction by AMCON. Despite this, he reportedly proceeded to buy the property while the case was still in court, in breach of an existing preservation order.
