Corper Raye, the outspoken former corps member who made waves earlier this year after a viral video captured her boldly calling out the Nigerian government during her Passing Out Parade (POP), has revealed a shocking twist to her service story, she never received her NYSC discharge certificate.
In a detailed update, Raye recounted how, despite successfully completing her one-year mandatory national service, she was denied the certificate that formally marks the end of the NYSC program. According to her, the controversy began when officials alleged she failed to complete her clearance for April on the designated date.
Raye maintains this claim is false, insisting that she was physically present at the clearance venue. However, she says she was subjected to repeated humiliation by the Local Government Inspector (LGI), who allegedly told her multiple times to “go to the back” of the line without offering a valid reason. She said this cycle continued until the LGI eventually refused to clear her entirely, seized her file, and ordered her to leave the premises.
The former corps member described the incident as deeply frustrating and emotionally draining, calling it a “waste of her time” after dedicating a full year to national service. She accused the officials involved of deliberate victimization, hinting that her previous viral criticism of the government might have played a role in how she was treated.
Expressing her disappointment, Raye said she already has a strong sense of how the “final verdict” will turn out, given the lack of accountability she perceives within the system. Nonetheless, she has decided to close this chapter of her life, declaring that she will not let the experience define her future.
Her story has sparked fresh conversations online about transparency and fairness in the NYSC clearance process, with many Nigerians expressing outrage over the possibility of personal grievances influencing official decisions.
