Concern Grows in Plateau Community as Two Youths Go Missing Within One Month

Residents of Bukuru community in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, have been thrown into panic and palpable tension following the disappearance of two young men within the space of one month.

According to the worried residents, the disappearance of the young men identified as Aminu Abdullahi, popularly called Dan Siyasa and Abdulkadir Abubakar, has thrown the community into utmost confusion and has sparked urgent calls for security intervention and immediate investigation.

A youth leader in the community, Ben Sabo, who spoke to NEWSMEN on Tuesday, said the missing young men were prominent in the local politics of the area, insinuating that their disappearance could be linked to political rivalry.

The disappearance of Aminu Abdullahi, also known as Dan Siyasa, and Abdulkadir Abubakar, all within one month has thrown our community into panic,” Sabo said.

“Dan Siyasa was a commercial tricycle (Keke) operator and a very popular young man who was very active in local politics. He has been missing since May 23, 2026, and all efforts to trace his whereabouts have been futile.

Information from his family revealed that Aminu was last seen around 9:00 p.m on that day after he was reportedly hired by an unknown person for a drop,” he stated.

Sabo said Abdullahi was said to have been accompanied by a friend before the trip and had handed over his mobile phone for charging prior to departure.

“Since that moment, both Aminu and his Keke Napep have completely disappeared without a trace as all attempts by family members and residents to locate him have failed, deepening fear and uncertainty within the community.

While we were still looking for Abdullahi, we got another report that Abdulkadir Abubakar, a commercial motorcycle rider, also went missing within the same period,” the youth leader said.

He added that Abubakar had gone missing earlier in the month but his disappearance was not reported until that of Abdullahi.

“We gathered that Abubakar had been missing for a couple of weeks before Abdullahi but we did not know about it until now. His family members said they had been looking for him without any trace. The two young men were deeply involved in politics at the local level and some people are saying their disappearance may be connected to political rivalry.”

Sabo added the double disappearance of the youths has put the community on edge while triggering panic, anger, and suspicion among youths and residents, with many describing the situation as deeply disturbing, inhuman, and unacceptable.

“Some youth groups in the community have given security agencies seven days to locate the missing persons dead or alive and if urgent action is not taken, the situation could lead to a breakdown of the law.

“We are also calling on relevant authorities including the Plateau State Government, the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), and all security agencies to launch an immediate and thorough investigation into the incidents.

“There is need for swift intelligence response, increased surveillance, and coordinated security operations to prevent further disappearances and restore public confidence,” Sabo emphasized.
