State Commander of Abia State Community Policing and Vigilante, Daniel Iheadindueme has urged traditional rulers in the State to support the outfit by mobilizing youths from their communities to join the security outfit.

He made the call at Isiala Ngwa North while addressing youths of the LGA, stressing that grassroots security strategy remained the most effective in safeguarding rural communities.

The ASCP State Commander explained that with more local youths actively involved in community policing, potential threats would be detected before they happen.

“Traditional rulers are the key players in community security. We cannot succeed without their full cooperation.

“They know their communities and their youths. We are appealing to them to help us bring more capable hands on board”, Iheadindueme said.

He disclosed that community policing and vigilante operations under his watch had already recorded significant successes in reducing cases of burglary, kidnapping, and cult-related crimes in many rural parts of Abia, in collaboration with various security agencies and other stakeholders.

He thanked Governor Alex Otti for his zero-tolerance for crime and for his support to the Abia State community Policing and Vigilante.

He further lauded the Governor’s strategic investments in intelligence gathering and surveillance, which he said, significantly bolstered the capacity of community policing outfits to respond promptly to security threats.
