CJN charges acting FCT Chief Judge, others to be impartial

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, has charged the newly inaugurated acting Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory, Justice Hussein Baba, and the five Kadis of the FCT Sharia Court of Appeal to be impartial and fair to all.

The CJN urged them to apply justice and equity in all their undertakings.

He stated this on Monday at the Supreme Court during the swearing-in of the Acting FCT Chief Judgment and Kadis of FCT Sharia Court of Appeal.

“You are expected to conduct your affairs within the ambit of the law and the oath that has just been administered to you. Anything to the contrary will not place you on the right side of history.

“There is no doubt that you all will definitely be tempted and even intimidated on different ways and guises but you should always remain firm and unshaken because good conscience fears no threat,” he said.

The CJN also stated that the oath that has been administered must guide them in the adjudication of matters.

“This is a bond that you have already engraved in your heart and must be guided by it when adjudicating in all matters that come before you as well as responding to issues concerning your judges/kadis and staff all through your tenure as the head of FCT judiciary and Kadi of FCT Sharia Court of Appeal,” the CJN added.

The newly appointed Kadis are Salisu Garba, Bashir Danmaisule, Muhammad A. Sadis, Lawa Sule and Abdullahi Adam Al-Ilorin.
