China has sharply criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump for his remarks urging Iranians to “immediately evacuate” amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel, accusing him of worsening an already volatile situation.
The condemnation followed Israel’s recent surprise airstrikes on various locations across Iran—a move it claimed was necessary to halt Iran’s alleged nuclear weapons program, an accusation Tehran denies. The attacks have reignited a shadow war between the two nations and cast a shadow over ongoing nuclear negotiations, prompting fears of a wider regional conflict.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump intensified concerns with a blunt message to Tehran residents: “Everyone should immediately evacuate!”
Responding to his statement, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun denounced the rhetoric, warning that inflammatory language and pressure tactics would only fuel further instability.
“Fanning the flames, pouring oil, making threats and mounting pressure will not help de-escalate the situation but will only intensify and expand the conflict,” Guo said.
He urged all involved parties—particularly countries with significant influence over Israel—to exercise restraint and take urgent action to prevent further escalation.
In a separate move, China’s embassy in Israel issued an urgent advisory on Tuesday, recommending that Chinese citizens leave the country as soon as possible. The notice cited the worsening security conditions following days of mutual strikes between Iran and Israel and advised Chinese nationals to exit via land borders, particularly toward Jordan, if safe to do so.
The embassy highlighted the growing civilian toll and extensive damage to infrastructure, emphasizing that the conflict was continuing to escalate.
