Jose Luis Chilavert decided to participate in the debate on the best football player of all time and his remarks about Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi have sparked controversy.

The former Paraguay international has claimed that Messi is the finest in the history of the sport and he has lamented Maradona for his relationship with FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

“Messi is the best in history,” Chilavert told Radio Cooperativa.

“The other two that I liked were Ronaldo [Nazario] and Romario.

“Maradona did not win even one percent of what Messi won and for that reason, Lionel is better.

“Maradona is still Infantino’s doormat.”
