Rangers were crowned Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, champions for the ninth time after a 2-1 victory over Ikorodu City at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos on Sunday.

 

 

Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side started on the front foot and took the lead through Chidiebere Nwobodo on the half-hour mark.

 

Nwobodo doubled the visitors’ lead 10 minutes after the break.

 

 

Ikorodu City, who also needed a win to boost their chances of securing a place on the continent reduced the deficit through Moses Ali two minutes before the hour mark.

 

Rivers United finished second after a 3-0 home win over Katsina United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.

 

 

Chijioke Mbaoma bagged a brace for Rivers United, while Aniekeme Okon scored the other goal.
