CELEBRATION OF LIFE: FAMILY MEMBERS, DIGNITARIES CELEBRATE MADAM JANET AS SHE IS LAID TO REST

It was a day of merriment and celebration for friends and family as late Madam Janet Ikwuka was laid to rest in her home town.

The late Janet Ikwuka who died on the 20th of January 2021 at the ripe age of 120 due to old age induced ailment was laid to rest in her hometown at  Ifite, Ezinifite, Anambra state.

Janet was indeed a blessed woman as she was survived by 4 children, 34 grand children, 38 great grand children, their spouses and other family members.

The burial which was held on Thursday the 6th of January 2022 saw the attendance of a magnitude of crowd who were touched in one way or another by the life of mama or her children, dignitaries, political figures and musicians to mention but a few.

While honoring his late mother, her first son Sir Ide Jonah Ikwuka in a tribute to his mother explained how his mother gave up the ghost saying, “I watched you gently sleep away in the hospital as gracefully as you lived your life, and I have no doubt in my heart that you are resting with the angels in Heaven.

Talking about his mother’s hardwork he said “I witnessed your hardwork, your resilience your strength, your strong relationship with God especially when my father passed on. Very early in life you made sure I never wavered in my relationship with God and instilled very strong work ethics in me. You entrusted me with so many responsibilities, and am grateful to her for this.

“You lived and lived well. You earned the respect and admiration of all who came close to you. You only always wanted all that came around you to be happy. I am honored to be your son and proud to call you my mother’, he said.

Janet’s aged daughter, Mrs Ezije Priscilla Obiezue described her mother as a rare gem and a light in the midst of darkness adding “You have been my source of progress, cheerfulness, courage and a strong pillar upon which I rest. You were an inspiring soul and was always there for anyone who came to you with their troubles.

“The most loving, humble, compassionate, understanding, family oriented woman and one of the most beautiful souls one could ever meet. May God grant you eternal rest”, she said.

Her grand children and great grand children had nothing but loving words to say about Janet as one of her grandson’s Chukwunonso Obiehoka Ngene “From the way you lived your life I learnt a great deal of moral values that shaped my whole life.

“I can’t forget in a hurry the sacrifices you made for us. You taught us that our culture and identity should not be neglected for any reason. You sacrificed a lot to see that we your grandchildren didn’t lack good virtues. You didn’t support anything bad and you also taught to do the same. I will forever miss you”, he said.

Ngene Chinasa Evangel, Madam Janet’s great grand daughter described the times spent in her great grandmother’s house as always marked with love, adding “I will ever remain thankful for her sacrifices and teachings.

“Her love for me knew no bounds she has so much confidence in me which made her give me the name AGBOHO NA ABUO meaning two female strengths in one person. The legacy you left will remain ever green in my life. I’m glad you lived a life worth celebrating”, she said concluding.
