
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced the appointment of Candid Oil Services Limited as the country’s new pre-shipment inspection agent for crude oil exports.
The appointment was disclosed in a notice dated July 1, 2026, and signed by the Director of the CBN’s Trade and Exchange Department, Aderinola Shonekan.
According to the apex bank, Taurus Oil and Gas Depot has been designated as the terminal to be serviced by Candid Oil Services under the new arrangement.
The CBN stated that the appointment was made in accordance with the provisions of the Pre-Shipment Inspection Act of 1996.
“This is to notify all authorised dealer banks, the Nigeria Customs Service, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, all terminal operators, all oil and gas companies, and the general public that the Federal Government has appointed the company listed below to operate as a Pre-Shipment Inspection Agent for oil export, in line with the provisions of the PIA Act, 1996,” the notice read.
The appointment forms part of the Federal Government’s regulatory framework for monitoring and facilitating crude oil export operations in Nigeria.
