Buhari swears in Sambo as works, housing minister of state

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has sworn-in Muazu Sambo as the Minister of State for Works and Housing.

The brief swearing-in ceremony took place in the Executive Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja just before the National Security Council meeting.

Sambo replaced the former Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, in the Federal Executive Council.

The Senate had on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 confirmed Sambo’s nomination as a minister-designate after screening.

Speaking to State House Correspondents after his swearing-in, Sambo vowed to live up to the responsibility placed on him by the President and would work hard to serve Nigerians.

He said, “I feel elated, but at the same time, I feel a heavy sense of responsibility. I pray that God Almighty will give me the strength and wisdom to discharge this trust and confidence that Mr President has reposed in me.

“I want to assure Mr President that the confidence he has reposed in me will not be misplaced. I’ll assure Nigerians that I shall carry out my duties as a minister of the government of the federation in accordance with the oath of office that has just been administered on me and that I will help Mr President to propel this country forward.

“Nigerians will expect a very hardworking slave driver.”
