Buhari returns from UK after visiting Tinubu

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has returned to Abuja after a three-week trip to the United Kingdom.

Buhari, who had visited the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, in London on Thursday, touched down at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at about 18:45 pm on Friday.

The President had travelled to the UK on July 26, 2021, to attend the Global Partnership for Education organised Global Education Summit before undergoing a scheduled medical check-up.

Buhari returned from the UK amidst the strike embarked upon by resident doctors in Nigeria.

Resident doctors have been on strike since Monday, August 2, 2021, demanding payment of outstanding doctors’ salaries and hazard allowances minimum, enrolment of doctors in the integrated personal payroll information systems, amongst others, as minimum conditions to call off its indefinite strike.

Buhari returned from London amidst the leadership crisis rocking his party, the APC.

UGAMATV  had earlier reported that APC governors under the aegis of the Progressives Governors Forum met recently but failed to reach an agreement on what to do about the proposal to ease out their colleagues holding party positions — including Yobe State Governor and Chairman of the party’s caretaker committee, Mai Mala Buni.

The APC governors had resolved to wait for Buhari’s return before deciding Buni’s fate.
