Buhari Congratulates Tinubu on Second Anniversary, Urges Nigerians to Remain Optimistic

Former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has hailed his successor, Bola Tinubu, as he marks his second anniversary on May 29, 2025.

In a statement released on his X account Wednesday, signed by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, Buhari urged Nigerians to remain optimistic about the future, saying citizens’ expectations from the government should not be heavy.

He rallied for support for the Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress government, explaining that reforms would achieve success gradually, not overnight.

Buhari warned that necessary reforms and desired changes must not fall victim to politics.

He expressed support for the ongoing efforts by the Tinubu administration to rein in poverty and inflation, which he says have hit the poorest families the hardest.

However he added that the task of reducing poverty and inflation must not be left only for the government.

“The private sector and all of us as citizens must join in all ways we can.

“Our expectations from our governments should not get heavy.

“I am wishing President Tinubu heartfelt congratulations on his two years in office. May you keep leading with wisdom and care,” Buhari said.
