Multiple fatalities and injuries have been reported following a fresh attack by suspected armed herdsmen along the Makurdi–Naka Road in Benue State.
According to eyewitness accounts, the assailants struck on Friday evening, targeting commuters along the volatile route. The attack left several travelers stranded and heightened fears among residents in the area.
The Makurdi–Naka axis has remained under the grip of armed Fulani militia for weeks, despite repeated assurances from security agencies about restoring order.
This latest incident comes just days after Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, relocated to Benue State in response to the rising wave of violence sweeping across the region.
