BREAKING: ENUGU REP, OKECHUKWU TO TRAIN OVER 300 YOUTHS, WOMEN ON HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY

The Deputy Minority leader, house of representatives, Hon. Toby Okechukwu , have began his poverty alleviation program in which he plans to empower over 300 youths and women in the hospitality industry.

The workshop which began on the 11th of November in Awgu will be held three days each for three weeks in each of his Federal constituency.

The program which is being organized by the lawmaker for the youths and women in Aninri, Awgu, and Oji-River Federal constituency said its to enable them learn how to make certain local food, confectionaries and pastries which they can use in becoming self employed.

In an exclusive interview with UGAMATV, Hon. Toby Okechukwu, speaking on his reasons for conducting the event said, “There are certain economic activities we have the ability to do but we don’t exploit it. It’s good to be creative and improve your fortune within your culture, and we try to focus on hospitality in terms of using local cuisines that we have, like food and getting them to be brought to the fore.

“Things like ugba, abacha, okpa, some of these things are forgotten but there are certain ways they can be prepared as delicacies. It’s good to train our people so that they can use their capacity and expand the hospitality industry in terms of food making”, he said concluding.
